In its most recent grant year, the coalition continued to implement its program goals and objectives by making efforts to expand the board to represent the entire peninsula and to create Youth to Youth clubs and activities in neighboring communities; and conducting several Youth to Youth programs, including weekly meetings for high school youth action groups, the seventh annual Central Coast Conference, the Western States Regional Conference, the Speakers Bureau, and Kickin' Butts.
To achieve the two goals of reducing substance abuse among youth and strengthening community antidrug coalitions, this coalition will implement the following strategies: 1) making Youth to Youth programming available throughout the Monterey Peninsula; and 2) expanding and strengthening collaboration among governmental, community, private nonprofit, educational, and law enforcement organizations and other sectors of the community to support coalition efforts to prevent and reduce substance abuse among youth.
