Description of original award (Fiscal Year 1999, $399,370)
The American Correctional Association's goal, with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's (OJJDP) assistance, is to continue to provide leadership to the juvenile justice field through training and technical assistance to staff working in juvenile corrections, detention, community residential and non-residential facilities.
To accomplish this goal, ACA proposes the following activities:
* provide technical assistance for detention, corrections and community residential service providers, administrators, staff and policy makers;
* conduct the Annual Juvenile Corrections and Detention Forum to include the examination of legislation and litigation issues that effect detention/correction facilities and agencies;
* facilitate information exchange and increased networking among juvenile justice leaders;
* develop and disseminate texts, papers, monographs and related resource materials to the juvenile justice community; and,
* coordinate with other national juvenile justice organizations to provide concise, accurate, and timely technical assistance to juvenile justice agencies.
