Adapting OJP's Comprehensive Approach to Youth Gang Problem in Glenn County

Having completed a thorough assessment of the local gang problem during the first year of grant funding, Glenn County is engaged in a process of implementing OJJDP's Comprehensive Gang Model. This Model includes the use of a Steering Committee, made of community leaders and decision makers, and an Intervention team, made up of line staffwho have regular contact with gang members, to imp;ement strategies of community mobilization, social intervention (including sreet outreach) , opportunites provision, suppression, and organizational change. Glenn County is one of two rural sites that are implementing this Model as part of an effort to determine its applicability to rural settings. This is
the second year of implementation funding for Glenn County.
