PROJECT SUMMARY FOR 98-JN-FX-0089
The Mound Bayou Youth Focused Community Policing Initiative (MB YFCPI) Steering Committee (a partnership of the youth and public and private sctors) will provide a safe environment for the youth of Mound Bayou and the surrounding Mid-Delta EX/EEC to explore and learn their potential. This will be accomplished by: 1) Establishing a Youth Activities Center and Facility (YACF) that will incorporate and provide a wide range of programs and services that will be available to all youth. 2) Consolidating programs and services available to the youth of Mound Bayou and the surrounding EX/EEC. 3) Identifying and securing of supplemental and alternative funding sources to sustain the Mound Bayou Youth Focuses Community Policing Initiate Project (MB YFCIP Project) past the Federal funding. 4) Hiring and training of a full-time project director for the MB YFCPI Project. 5) Working towards the development and implementation of a Boys and Girls Club. 6) Hiring and training of a full-time Juvenile Officer for the Mound Bayou City Police Department.

During the first two years of operation this project, the following programs will be initiated through a collaboarative effort of the youth, schools, law enforcement, courts, public and private health care providers, religious organizations, citizens, and the business community.
