The Pima Prevention Partnership (PPP) seeks to reduce substance abuse among high risk youth in Tucson and Pima County, Arizona by continuing to employ five strategies that have generated results in reducing substance abuse among youth:
1) expanding a community-wide, ongoing parent education component that will teach parents accountability skills; 2) expanding and maintaining additional teen courts in the schools programs to futher reduce delinquent behavior; 3) expanding collaborative efforts among local organizations in the area of demand reduction that will address objectives outlined in a 5 year demand reduction plan; 4) expanding the formal membership on the coalition to more comprehensively address policy issues related to youth use of substances; and, 5) continuing, as appropriate, the local coordination of the pilot ONDCP/Partnership for a Drug free America Campaign in Tucson to support youth-focused drug free messages. PPP plans to engage parents more in demand reduction activities; identify and partner with additional prevention program funding bodies and to continue to expand capacity by adding coalition partners.
