PROJECT SUMMARY FOR 98-JN-FX-0009
The goal of the proposed Youth Focused Community Policing ì
Initiative (YFCPI) project is to develop, implement, and sustain ì
a comprehensive, multi-agency, community-wide process for ì
addressing youth crime, victimization, and quality of life issues ì
at the local level. The proposed YFCPI strategy is designed to ì
enhance information sharing, collaboration, case management, ì
community involvement, and coordination at the local level as ì
well as throughout the entire Los Angeles area. The YFCPI ì
strategy calls for: (1) Development of multi-disciplinary teams ì
at the Los Angeles Unified School District Cluster level; (2) ì
identification of local problems, needs, and resources; (3) ì
formulation of local strategies, plans, workplans, and timeless ì
for addressing the targeted issue areas and needs; and (4) ì
coordination of these plans at the broader, city-wide level. This ì
problem-solving approach is designed to strengthen community ì
policing partnerships, tap into a broad range of existing ì
community resources, develop responses and solutions which are ì
matched to the needs and strengths within a particular community, ì
and establish the infrastructure for applying problem-solving ì
techniques at the local level. It also provides local communities ì
with the tools necessary to develop a comprehensive strategy ì
approach for addressing youth crime and victimization issues.
