Project Summary for 1998-JG-FX-0002 s6

The national evaluation of the Juvenile Mentoring Program (JUMP) provides for the collection of data from all JUMP mentoring projects to support a national process and impact evaluation. The grantee now has gathered qualitative and quantitative data from over 250 grantees using standardized instruments, site-visits, telephone interviews and a management information system (JUMP MIS) created specifically for the JUMP evaluation. The evaluation methodology also has been expanded to address more fully issues related to sustainability, the longer-term impacts of mentoring, the effects of mentoring on elementary age youth and to gather data from a quasi-comparison group. In the 2003-2004 project year, the grantee will continue to gather process and outcome data from currently active JUMP grantees for both the core evaluation and the expanded evaluation components in order to document the full spectrum of impacts of the national program on the mandated goals and objectives. ca/ncf
