Pursuant to Section 404 (b)(3) of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as amended, the Administrator of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention shall: "periodically conduct national incidence studies to determine for a given year the actual number of children reported missing each year, the number of children who are victims of parental kidnappings, and the number of children who are recovered each year." The Second National Incidence Studies of Missing, Abducted, Runaway and Thrownaway Children (NISMART II), which was conducted in 1999 by Temple University, consists of four complementary studies designed to estimate the size and nature of the Nations's missing child population. Major activities include preparing: summary bulletins, technical and final reports, including and public use data tapes and documentation. CA/NCF
