TARGETED OUTREACH: GANG PREVENTION/INTERVENTION, TARGETED RE-ENTRY

Boys & Girls Clubs of America's TARGETED OUTREACH is a proven comprehensive approach using effective techniques and strategies that direct 'at-risk' young people to positive alternatives offered by Boys & Girls Clubs. The national organization, was founded in 1906 by the 53 local Clubs in existence at that time. The Targeted Outreach approach will be used to provide prevention, intervention, and reentry services to at-risk youth, gang-involved youth, and gang-involved youth returning from confinement respectively. This award will be used to expand gang prevention activities to 14 sites, expand gang intervention activities to two sites, and continue to support three targeted reentry sites. Funding will also support pass through dollars and training and technical assistance for targeted outreach activities in four sites where OJJDP is implementing the Gang Reduction Program. Finally, this funding will be used to support an evaluation of the targeted reentry program.
