The Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children (SOVA ICAC) Task Force will continue to support all law enforcement agencies investigating technology-facilitated child exploitation by increasing digital forensic examination capacity, working proactive and reactive investigations, providing training and technical assistance, securing services for child victims and families, and implementing preventive measures through community outreach via presentations and media releases. In addition, the Bedford County Sheriff's Office will continue to actively build law enforcement capacity through affiliations in the Southern Virginia ICAC's area of responsibility.
More specifically, the Task Force will work to: increase the number of both proactive and reactive investigations; increase the number of forensic examinations; increase the number of referrals received from other ICAC Task Forces and federal partners; increase the capabilities of the SOVA ICAC Task Force agencies in the investigation of technology-facilitated crimes against children; enhance the SOVA ICAC Task Force's effectiveness in preventing these types of offenses; and formalize law enforcement partnerships through written agreements.
