The New York City (NYC) Police Department, New York City Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Program will continue to maintain, expand, and improve the NYC ICAC Task Force’s effectiveness in preventing, interdicting, investigating, and prosecuting Internet crimes against children and technology-facilitated child exploitation. The NYC ICAC Task Force's purpose is to utilize provided resources to foster community awareness, conduct investigations, procure evidence, and identify and apprehend offenders who utilize technology to commit crimes against children. The population to be served encompasses children, parents/caregivers, teachers, and related professionals who reside or work in New York City. The project’s goal is the reduction of child victims. Community outreach is paramount to achieving this goal and fulfilling the mission. The task force utilizes informational presentations, which focus on Internet safety practices. As technology evolves, so does the need to understand its most intricate workings. Progress towards these goals is measured by the number of children and adults trained, the number of investigations conducted, the number of related arrests, the size of related evidence forensically examined, and the number of agencies coordinated in the effort.
