Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $402,469)
The purpose of the Connecticut Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (CT ICAC TF) is to apprehend those intending to exploit and victimize children in Connecticut. The CT ICAC TF comprises of 68 investigative and forensic-based affiliates. Last year, the CT ICAC TF increased by 8 affiliates and will work toward continued growth and success in all areas. Activities include: (1) expand the affiliate base and technical expertise of the Task Force in the areas of Investigations, Forensics, Prosecution and Community Outreach; (2) work in partnership with Federal agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Secret Service, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency, U.S. Postal Service, and Homeland Security Investigations; (3) proactively and reactively investigate crimes against children; (4) conduct computer forensic science examinations related to technology-based crimes against children; (5) support the training needs of investigators and forensic examiners with updated and new cloud, computer, and mobile forensic software/technologies; (6) improve current forensic analysis updated technology and provide better data to assist in investigating crimes against children and a rapid turnaround of analysis; and (7) increase the CT ICAC TF’s capability to respond to and analyze the growing number of mobile/cell phones and other electronic devices.
