North Dakota FY 2024 Title II Formula Grants Program funds will be used to improve outcomes for youth in the juvenile justice system as well as those at risk. Funding is being allocated to support community-based alternatives to incarceration and institutionalization. Non-secure alternatives to detention and placement will be supported as well as screening to identify needs, crisis intervention, and family interventions and counseling services. Care coordination will be piloted to assist youth and families with connecting to services. Funding is also being allocated for delinquency prevention programs that seek to meet the needs of youth and families particularly minority youth that are over-represented in North Dakota juvenile justice system. Services to be funded would increase the number of youth receiving interventions in school, increase fidelity of restorative justice services in schools and communities, identify and reduce barriers to services for youth, particularly minority youth, and increase cultural competence of programs and services funded.
