Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $525,000)

Alliance for Inclusion and Prevention in Boston, MA, aims to reduce a significant gap in access to evidence-based treatment for problematic sexual behavior in Suffolk County, MA, home to Boston. The proposed project reduces youth sexual reoffending and ensures victim treatment by enhancing the existing multidisciplinary team. The project increases access to evidence-based problematic sexual behavior treatment for 13- to 17-year-old youth via access to either problematic sexual behavior-cognitive behavioral therapy or multisystemic treatment. The proposed treatments are shown to significantly reduce the likelihood of reoffending, thereby reducing the harm to victims and further requiring law enforcement intervention. This project addresses a large service gap for youth ages 15 to 17, for whom the only current access to community-based problematic sexual behavior treatment is for youth in the custody of the Department of Children and Families. This project seeks to enhance the Suffolk County Children’s Advocacy Center’s existing multidisciplinary team in the following ways: (1) expand Alliance for Inclusion and Prevention’s problematic sexual behavior treatment team in order to treat youth who are not Department of Children and Families-involved; (2) create referral and treatment progress monitoring mechanisms for these youth; and (3) reduce treatment dropouts by removing transportation barriers for families of 13-to17-year-olds who meet model criteria for services.
