Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $741,975)

The Alabama Department of Commerce proposes to implement the Pathways to Promise: Youth Opioid Recovery Initiative in collaboration with The Dannon Project a non-profit organization that helps justice involved youth reenter society. The purpose of the project is to address the significant impact of opioid use and other substance use disorders on youth in Jefferson and Walker Counties. Project activities will include prevention, intervention, and treatment techniques including collaborating with community stakeholders to develop comprehensive strategies that prioritize the well-being of youth and families affect by substance abuse. The project expected outcomes are to improve the quality of life for youth and their family by equipping teens and their families with increased knowledge and tools to deal with substance use issues by providing the necessary tools and support leading to recovery.
