Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $163,000)

Forbes House, the sole domestic violence shelter in Lake County, seeks federal funding for an initiative dedicated to empowering members of the Hispanic community to live free from abuse. This project aims to inform and support individuals by enhancing their awareness of available resources and providing essential tools to escape abusive relationships. Its primary goal is to encourage and empower Hispanic survivors to seek assistance and achieve lives without domestic violence. The project will achieve this through targeted outreach and educational campaigns within the Hispanic community, culturally sensitive services like bilingual counseling and emergency shelter, partnerships with local organizations, and empowerment programs such as job training and financial literacy workshops.
