The Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office is actively pursuing grant funding to expand county programs aimed at tackling chronic truancy, defined by Maryland State Law as specified unlawful absences. In Fiscal Year 2023, the Office initiated the Family Justice Academy in collaboration with Prince George’s County Public Schools, local police, and the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services. This comprehensive program aims to reduce juvenile offenses by addressing chronic truancy.
