Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $500,000)

2nd Call's Youth Empowerment and Development project aims to combat youth violence, delinquency, and victimization in California's 37th Congressional District by addressing trauma and fostering leadership among local youth. Collaborating with schools, law enforcement, and community stakeholders, 2nd Call focuses on mental health support for at-risk and system-impacted youth through healing circles, interventions, mentoring, and empowerment programs. Their holistic, trauma-informed approach, led by young people with lived experiences, offers alternatives to violence and promotes self-sufficiency and activism. By nurturing academic success, personal growth, and community leadership, 2nd Call empowers marginalized youth to drive positive social change.
