The Center for Youth Justice Transformation strengthens state- and territory-level compliance with the Title II Formula Grants Program, authorized under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974 (JJDPA), to develop and implement training and technical assistance that supports state, territorial, Tribal, and community juvenile justice system reform efforts. The American Institutes for Research along with partners Youth MOVE National, National Partnership for Juvenile Services, Family-Run Executive Director Leadership Association, subject matter experts, and lived experts, brings a coordinated training and technical assistance (TTA) structure that integrates evidence-based strategies and youth and family partnership innovations that advance justice transformation. American Institutes for Research will reach this goal through three objectives: (a) Design and provide comprehensive TTA to strengthen state and territory compliance with, and implementation of, the Title II Formula Grants Program of JJDPA state plans; (b) respond to TTA requests that support state, territorial, Tribal, and community juvenile justice system improvement and reform efforts; and (c) establish a Youth Justice Transformation Institute that provides on-demand learning in best practices regarding youth delinquency prevention, intervention, and treatment. Center for Youth Justice Transformation’s principles include continuous quality improvement; individualized site-specific TTA that focuses on local innovation and data and delivery in collaboration with other experts; and establishing the inclusion of diverse perspectives across the center. This award enhances the knowledge-base of Center for Youth Justice Transformation staff, partners, and consultants; increases on-site and virtual TTA; facilitates a more dynamic range of resources and resource dissemination modalities; improves communication and clearinghouse technologies; and amplifies peer-to-peer learning opportunities.
