Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $625,000)

This project will result in a new graphical-based program that incorporates the capabilities of four existing command line-based tools into one single, cohesive, and easy-to-use interface for investigating and prosecuting child sexual exploitation cases. The program goals are to reduce the time and resources required for investigating and prosecuting child sexual exploitation cases and to increase the successful prosecution of these cases. The program's deliverables include the tool development, creation and integration of keyword files, a written manual, and training video. NW3C will test and validate the tool during the entirety of this project and provide ad hoc technical assistance in support of this project and will commit to continuing to host and support the tool following the completion of the project performance period. The new tool will enable entry-level and experienced investigators to use the program in a forensically sound manner, enhancing their investigations and improving the chances of successful prosecution. NW3C will develop a written user manual and a training video that includes a testing component, and those who complete the training and pass the post-test will receive a certificate from NW3C. This training will ensure that investigators and prosecutors are utilizing the tool in the most efficient and effective manner.
