OJJDP FY 2023 PREA Reallocation Program

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety, Division of Public Safety Planning, Office of Justice Program’s goal is to educate and provide training to facilities that hold or house juveniles to public authority about Prison Rape Elimination Act. This will further assist Mississippi Department of Youth Services and local county juvenile facilities in reaching their goals of reducing sexual assaults, as well as physical assaults or even deaths. Juvenile facilities are continuously improving policies and procedures to comply with the federally mandated Prison Rape Elimination Act standards and data will be collected from the standards that have been put in place. The agency will continue to work with Mississippi Department of Youth Services regarding its compliance with Prison Rape Elimination Act mandates after review from audit.
