The Title II Formula Grants Program Funding assists Florida’s effort in providing services for youth, system involved youth and their families. As the state’s administering agency and administrator of the Title II Formula Grant Funding, the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice will use funds to support Florida’s Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention programs, Planning and Administration, State Advisory Group, Compliance Monitoring, Racial and Ethnic Disparities, Delinquency Prevention, Girl Services, Human Trafficking, Mentoring Services, Jail Removal, Learning and other Disabilities, Positive Youth Development, and Native American Programming as the main areas of focus. Planning and Administration will ensure effective administration, internal control and will have more than one staff who ensures the effective monitoring, Racial and Ethnic Disparities compliance, accountability and fiscal responsibility of federally funded delinquency prevention programs. Compliance Monitoring Services will ensure compliance with the requirements of the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Act and develop innovative training to improve monitoring systems in Florida. Racial and Ethnic Disparities efforts will continue collaboration with local law enforcement, schools, judicial systems, and families in educating and addressing the needs of minority youth. Delinquency Prevention funds will be used to support prevention programs that focus on youth and seek to prevent and intervene with first-time and non-serious offenders to keep them out of the juvenile justice system. Prevention Regional Coordinators will educate community stakeholders on delinquency prevention programming, research and polices; provide technical assistance as needed to contracted providers to ensures compliance; coordinate and facilitate in-service training and guidance on contractual issues for prevention services; develop and maintain effective partnerships and affiliations with local community organizations. Florida will bridge collaboration with Native American Programming to develop strategies.
