Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $250,000)
With this grant, Louisiana’s Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) will build upon the all-hazards, emergency-management system to shore up preparedness among middle management at secure-care facilities. Specifically, OJJ will solve the problems of new management in need of practical leadership knowledge and the need for supplies including replacement radios and first-responder kits. Activities include: hiring a subgrantee to perform sustained and integrated trainings with appropriate follow-up and purchasing first-aid supplies to incorporate into the trainings. The result will be safety- and emergency-related kick-starts for the youth at all 4 campuses of three facilities. OJJ will complete a comprehensive operation that drills down into the details, turns policy into action, and completes a statewide effort across all regions of Louisiana.
