Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $409,170)

The Anchorage Child in Need of Aid (CINA) Therapeutic Court Enhancement Project has three main goals: increase court utilization, increase retention of participants, and decrease recidivism rates of participants who have left the program. This project will provide a second case manager to help recruit more referrals; provide intensive case management to participants; and work with treatment professionals, Alaska Office of Children’s Services case workers, and peer support to help exiting participants transition successfully into family reunification and long-term sobriety. The case manager will provide wrap-around support to participants and ensure that they access community services and resources to promote self-sufficiency. Team member training at the National Association of Drug Court Professionals Annual Conference will also be part of this project to help the court adopt Family Treatment Court best practices. Funding for housing assistance for indigent Alaska CINA Therapeutic Court participants is also included in this proposal.
