Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $784,194)

The Offender Alumni Association (OAA) will implement the OAA Credible Messenger Youth Reentry Initiative in partnership with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, serving youth returning to the Metro Atlanta area within Fulton, DeKalb or Clayton Counties. For the purpose of this award, OAA’s main government partner will be the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice and Fulton County Juvenile Court in coordination with the United States Attorney Office Northern District of Georgia on their Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN) Strategy. 

Project activities include comprehensive case management with individual release plans; facilitating workshops inside the designated facilities and hosting virtual workshops; and providing mentoring, family strengthening and reunification, social skills development, access to educational and training opportunities, job placement assistance, and wraparound services through in-house referrals and collaborating agencies.
