Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $750,000)
Louisiana's Office of Youth Development plans to implement the RePath system to streamline probation and parole efforts, train probation and parole officers to become effective coaches and be appropriate advice givers for the clients, train group home staff in trauma-informed methods so they will have to rely less on probation officers, increase the number of transport officers working at probation and parole offices, increase the number of auxiliary support contracts as backup for probation and parole, and hire a workforce development consultant to enact long-term and sustained coaching and training of transition staff so that they will learn varied and complex methods for placing youth upon release. The expected outcomes will be more efficient jobs done by probation and parole officers that will lead to fewer revocations and more completed tasks for adjudicated youth, which will result in less recidivism.
