Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $749,268)

New Day’s proposed project, Kaleidoscope, targets young people ages 16–24 experiencing homelessness, disconnection, and marginalization, an underserved, often neglected, vulnerable population at high risk for opioid use and substance use, through our low- to no-barrier, peer-driven, drop-in center in Albuquerque. Kaleidoscope will (1) establish the Community Advisory Council composed of young people and adults with lived experience tasked to increase education and awareness and reduce stigma-related substance use, (2) promote harm reduction best practices focused on naloxone and fentanyl testing strips among community members and professionals, and (3) provide evidence-based interventions to young people and families in recovery.
