Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $749,939)

The Massachusetts General Hospital Substance Use Disorder Initiative will provide multidisciplinary, trauma-informed, dyadic-based, longitudinal medical and mental healthcare in its HOPE Clinic, aimed at reducing the intergenerational transmission of substance use and minimizing future juvenile justice involvement. The proposed project aims to improve outcomes for parents, infants, and youth impacted by parental opioid and other substance use by using a bigenerational lens that acknowledges the prenatal period as a critical period for child development and that the medical and mental healthcare of parents can be integrated into the care for infants and young children to improve family well-being.
