Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $750,000)
Webb County, Texas will implement a Juvenile Drug Treatment Court Program (JDTCP) to create adolescent treatment services and recovery support services for court-involved youth with substance use challenges. Webb County envisions the provision of an efficiently coordinated, multisystem approach that will be integrated to the sanctioning power of the JDTCP with effective treatment services to break the cycle of criminal behavior, alcohol and/or drug use, and incarceration or other penalties. Webb County JDTCP will utilize the leverage of the court to motivate youth to access comprehensive substance use treatment services and will coordinate mental health and trauma services for those youth with co-occurring disorders. JDTCP will also utilize case management to link participants to community resources that can meet their overall needs and will engage youth in ongoing recovery opportunities and aftercare to help them sustain their recovery efforts.
