Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $1,000,000)

Lauderdale County Juvenile Drug Treatment Court seeks funding to enhance its existing Juvenile Treatment Court program by providing enhanced and expanded services to justice-involved youth through court interaction and supervision, mandatory drug testing and medication monitoring, substance use or co-occurring disorder (COD) treatment, and prosocial family engagement activities. The goals of the project are to (1) expand adolescent treatment services; (2) hire a coordinator; (3) provide training related to best practices and evidence-based programs; (4) facilitate evidence-based life skill classes for participants and evidence-informed parenting classes for parents, caregivers, and families to support prosocial family engagement activities; (5) expand access to evidence-based substance use and/or COD treatment for participants to include expansion of in-home services, psychological evaluations for parents/custodians, equine therapy, and trauma evaluations; (6) implement a mentoring program; and (7) monitor and evaluate the family treatment court program for fidelity and accountability.
