Strategies for Supporting Youth in the Community

The Contra Costa County Probation Department, Office of Reentry, proposes to deliver the Policing the Teen Brain (PTB) training program, developed by Strategies for Youth (SFY), to all patrol and probation officers throughout the county. Given the growing diversity of Contra Costa County and concerns surrounding racial disparities in juvenile justice system involvement, this training program provides an opportunity for law enforcement to develop a crucial set of skills that might divert a young person from arrest.
