Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $478,652)
The West Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is managed by the West Virginia State Police. The primary goal of the task force is to combat child sexual exploitation and prosecute sexual predators on the Internet. This project is designed to provide support to all West Virginia law enforcement agencies investigating technology facilitated child sexual exploitation by conducting proactive and reactive investigations. This program partners with prosecutors, both on the Federal and State levels, to quickly resolve these cases with an evidence-based program. This funding allows the West Virginia ICAC task force to provide digital forensic examinations, provide training and technical assistance, securing services for child victims and families, and implementing preventive measures through community outreach. In addition, the West Virginia State Police will continue to actively build law enforcement and private sector capacity, through partnerships and affiliations in West Virginia, while making officer safety and wellness a priority within the task force. Project success will be measured through statistical reports; compiled monthly, quarterly and semi-annually, which will track types of cases, arrests, forensic examinations, technical assistance, cases submitted for prosecution and acquired affiliations along with other relevant areas.
