Since 2010, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has served as the lead agency for the Minnesota Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and provides support to over 80 affiliates and other non-affiliated agencies.  The task force’s purpose is to identify, investigate, apprehend, and prosecute predatory offenders who use the internet as a means to target and victimize children for sexual purposes.  The Minnesota ICAC task force will achieve its goals and objectives by training new personnel, conducting investigations, performing digital forensics exams, prosecuting offenders, and working cooperatively with federal, state, and local colleagues. Additionally, the task force will continue developing and maintaining a sustainable internet safety education program to help inform children, parents, educators, and the community about staying safe when using the Internet. Progress will be measured through monthly and semi-annual reports as required by the Office of Justice Programs, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP).
