Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $23,138)

Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement certifies that it will comply with the requirements for the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Program (OJJDP) 2021 and 2022 Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Reallocation Funds. The goal of the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement is to assist two local juvenile detention centers upgrade their monitoring systems and train their staff. 

The Terrebonne Parish Juvenile Detention Center will be the sub-grantee for the 2021 funding year. The focus of this project will be to assist the Terrebonne Juvenile Detention Center located in Houma, Louisiana. Terrebonne would like to conduct a PREA training for their staff and purchase additional cameras for their facility.

The 2022 funding year will be used to assist the Caddo Parish Juvenile Detention Center purchase computers for their facility. These computers will be used by staff to monitor the camera system, write reports and conduct online trainings for staff. 

This endeavor can be assisted by providing technology resources to both detention centers that will allow them to monitor activity as well as conduct precise investigations within each facility.
