Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $525,000)

NorthEast Washington Educational Service District (NEWESD) 101, in partnership with Martin Hall Juvenile Detention Facility and Spokane County Juvenile Court Services, propose to serve 100 girls per year, 17-under, who are in, or are at-risk of falling into, the juvenile justice system by 1) developing and implementing direct service programs for girls involved in the juvenile justice system to reduce recidivism; 2) enhancing or expanding existing prevention and early intervention programs to meet the specific needs of girls involved in the juvenile justice system and 3) developing, expanding or enhancing targeted curricula for staff (i.e., probation, detention center staff, law enforcement, judges) to ensure they have the skills necessary to implement these programs for girls in the juvenile justice system.
