The Oregon Department of Human Services will use funding to implement positive family engagement strategies and activities that address the needs of incarcerated parents with minor children.  They will pilot, evaluate, and refine a culturally specific and individualized program model targeted to incarcerated African American/Black fathers and their minor children toward the goals of improving parenting skills, reducing recidivism, and fostering positive youth development and family relationships. The project is a collaboration between the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), through its Child Welfare and Self-Sufficiency Programs, and Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI), Oregon’s largest African American-led nonprofit multi-service community-based organization.
