Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $741,460)

The County of Fort Bend will use funding to implement positive family engagement strategies and activities that address the needs of incarcerated parents with minor children. Fort Bend’s Always Parenting program is a collaboration between Texas’ Sheriff’s Office and Behavioral Health Services to provide support and resources to the local jail to create child-friendly spaces, and develop a coordinated system of family-focused services that support the needs of incarcerated parents and their children and reduce the adverse effects of incarceration by strengthening parent-child relationships while  addressing social determinants of health, and supporting re-entry and positive family reunification.
