Tribal Youth Resource Center

The Tribal Law and Policy Institute (TLPI) will provide training and technical assistance (TTA) via the Tribal Youth Resource Center (TYRC). The project’s goal is to provide culturally appropriate and responsive training and technical assistance to federally recognized tribes with a focus on improving outcomes for youth. TLPI, in collaboration with the National Native Children’s Trauma Center and several other project partners, has an overall objective to develop and expand the range of individualized and cohort-specific technical assistance to support and enhance tribal efforts to prevent and reduce juvenile delinquency by developing, multiplying, and strengthening tribally-driven approaches along the juvenile justice continuum.  Activities to support include: delinquency prevention and intervention initiatives; interventions for court-involved youth; treatment services for at-risk/high-risk youth, including services for youth in detention or out-of-home placement; and development of resources for services for LGBTQ and Two Spirit youth as well as youth who are victims of sex-trafficking. Deliverables include: provide TTA to CTAS PA 8 and 9 grantees; provide TTA for all federally recognized tribes; develop/Maintain a website; coordinate and conduct a biennial OJJDP Tribal Youth National Conference and facilitate sessions for national juvenile justice conferences; development and implementation of a targeted training and technical assistance plan; and create and disseminate virtual and print resources, toolkits, and publications.
