The program is a partnership between the MUSC Hospital Violence Intervention Program and Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. with strong community collaboration and services to achieve the following goals:
Reduction of risk factors for violent injury and violence recidivism among youth and young adults that experience community violence related injuries;
Reduction of violence victimization and perpetration among victims of violence and high-risk youth identified in healthcare and community settings; and
Reduction of community gun violence in targeted neighborhoods in the Charleston community.
These reductions will be achieved through comprehensive and intensive wraparound services to victims of community violence and high-risk youth, and community violence interruption strategies with community participation and stakeholder collaboration.
