National Children’s Alliance is the not-for-profit membership organization and accrediting body for the nation’s Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs). A Children’s Advocacy Center is a child-friendly facility in which law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical and victim advocacy professionals work together to investigate abuse, help children heal from abuse, and hold offenders accountable. NCA was first federally funded in 1993 to develop and expand Children’s Advocacy Centers across the country through a national sub-grants program.
The populations to be served through this program are victims of child pornography/sex abuse images, and domestic minors who are victims of trafficking and their families. Last year our national network of CAC’s served more than 386,000 child victims of abuse including victims of child pornography.
National Children’s Alliance proposes to continue the success through this proposal for the OJJDP 2022 CAC National Subgrant Program for Victims of Child Pornography by:
Implementing a national funding strategy for CACs and Chapters that provides CAC resources and services for victims of child pornography (CP) and child sex trafficking.
Working collaboratively with state and federal law enforcement agencies to implement, disseminate and troubleshoot protocols to serve victims of child pornography and trafficking more effectively.
Ensuring that Victims of Child Pornography and Trafficking receive expert care through a Multi-Disciplinary Team approach.
Examples of planned objectives to accomplish these goals include:
Developing a national peer review process to evaluate applications for funding.
Collecting and analyzing outcomes data from grantee annual projects.
Developing and expanding national partnerships with law enforcement agencies, including FBI, through the implementation of the of the 2022 FBI revised MOU.
Utilizing the 2023 CSEC Standard of Accreditation for CACs as guidance, collaborate with law enforcement, VOCAA Partners and subject matter experts to identify and develop a one-stop-shop of resources to meet the evidenced based standard.
