Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $2,000,000)

National Children’s Alliance is the not-for-profit membership organization and accrediting body for the nation’s Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs). A Children’s Advocacy Center is a child-friendly facility in which law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical and victim advocacy professionals work together to investigate abuse, help children heal from abuse, and hold offenders accountable. NCA was first federally funded in 1993 to develop and expand Children’s Advocacy Centers across the country through a national subgrants program.

The populations to be served through this program are victims of child pornography/sexual abuse images, and domestic minors who are victims of trafficking and their families. Last year our national network of CAC’s served more than 334,000 child victims of abuse including victims of child pornography,  provided abuse prevention training to more than 1.9 million children and adults, and provided training and technical assistance to more than 68,000 multi-disciplinary team members working for, or closely with CACs.

National Children’s Alliance will continue the success of the CAC National Subgrant Program for Victims of Child Pornography by:

1. Implementing a national funding strategy for CACs and Chapters that provides CAC resources and services for victims of child pornography (CP) and child sex trafficking.

2. Work collaboratively with state and federal law enforcement agencies to implement, disseminate and troubleshoot protocols to more effectively serve victims of child pornography and trafficking.

3. Ensure that Victims of Child Pornography and Trafficking receive expert care through a Multi-Disciplinary Team approach.

The program has several metrics to measure progress toward these goals, e.g. children and families served, clients receiving evidence based treatments, CACs and multi-disciplinary team receiving training, educational resources developed.
National Children’s Alliance is uniquely positioned to deliver a comprehensive and cohesive funding strategy to ensure that every child who has been victimized by child maltreatment, including victims of child pornography and child trafficking has access to a Children’s Advocacy Center and that those CACs provide consistent quality service and care across the national network.
