Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $621,368)

The Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice (CCJJ) is applying on behalf of the State of Utah for the OJJDP FY2021 Title II Formula Grants Program. Funding will be used towards the implementation of Utah’s 3-year Comprehensive Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Plan (2021-2023) to address juvenile delinquency and improve the juvenile justice system statewide.

As a component of CCJJ, the Utah Board of Juvenile Justice (UBJJ) serves as the state advisory group for the Title II Formula Grants Program. The overall mission of UBJJ is to promote the advancement of equitable, effective, and coordinated systems serving youth, families, and communities in the State of Utah. UBJJ has decided to direct its efforts towards supporting opportunities for youth to participate in programs and receive services which will prevent them from involvement with the juvenile justice system. Program areas for these efforts include: Delinquency Prevention, School Programs, Positive Youth Development, and After-school Programs. UBJJ will prioritize funding towards programs and services working with minority populations. UBJJ will continue to support system reform efforts and collaborate with CCJJ, the Juvenile Justice Oversight Committee, and other system stakeholders. UBJJ will also direct funding towards juvenile record expungement services. And, as always, UBJJ will fulfill the administrative duties and requirements of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act- including monitoring for compliance of the core requirements.
