Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $562,500)
The primary goal of this project is to create novel forensic processes and methods for analyzing real-time data related to live-stream abuse chats. To accomplish this goal, the grantee will integrate and enhance capabilities from two previously funded digital forensic tools developed by this grantee: Chat Analysis Triage Tool (CATT) and Toolkit for Selective Analysis and Reconstruction of Files (FileTSAR). By applying machine learning, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and network forensics, we will develop novel forensic processes for real-time digital evidence related to live-stream abuse chats to create LION-CATT (LIve Offender Network-based Chat Analysis Triage Tool).
LION-CATT will have the ability to identify high-priority offenders, and suggest demographic and stylistic characteristics of the offenders chatting, based on real-time information from chats with multiple actors and in multiple languages. LION-CATT will operationally impact law enforcement and digital forensic examiners investigating live-streaming abuse cases.
