Understanding the Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978

This webinar will provide information about the basic legal requirements of the Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978 (ICWA) and the practice issues involved with ICWA's implementation. 

Attendees will learn integrate other federal and state policies with ICWA—such as the Adoption and Safe Families Act—and support developing tribal and state agreements and other systems changes. 

This training includes information about the recent Bureau of Indian Affairs ICWA regulations and guidelines. 

The training will be three sessions daily over two days: 

  • 9:30 a.m.–11 a.m. Pacific Time
  • 12:00 p.m.–1:30 p.m. Pacific Time
  • 2:30 p.m.–4:00 p.m. Pacific Time
