Many reentry program evaluations cannot rely on existing data to answer key research questions and may need to collect primary data. Getting started with a primary data collection effort can be daunting, given the number of options that are available.

This webinar shares best practices from evaluation experts with the Evaluation and Sustainability training and technical assistance project and local research partners currently evaluating a Bureau of Justice Assistance-funded reentry program. It will provide guidance on key decisions that need to be made, including what data need to be collected, from whom, when, and how, and tips on designing your data collection instrument and developing and implementing data collection protocols.

Speakers include:

  • Christine Lindquist, Director, Corrections and Reentry Research Program, RTI International
  • Samuel Scaggs, Research Criminologist, RTI International
  • Ryan Spohn, Director, Nebraska Center for Justice Research, University of Nebraska at Omaha
  • Michael Campagna, Research Associate, Nebraska Center for Justice Research, University of Nebraska at Omaha
