The Opioid Affected Youth Initiative is hosting the third and final webinar in a series focused on providing an increased understanding of youth advisory boards (YABs) and exploring the effectiveness of engaging youth impacted by opioids and other substance use disorders in an advisory capacity, in partnership with the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges.

In this session, we will build on the foundational elements of youth-driven boards, delving into the logistics of organizing YABs and the various components that will drive the work of the advisory group to include best practices for engagement, compensation, and the development of performance measures and assessments that will ultimately serve to enhance recovery support systems and inform juvenile justice reform through the lens of youth with lived experiences.

After this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Construct meeting structures to increase engagement and maintain expectations.
  • Recognize methods to facilitate youth engagement and encourage youth leadership.
  • Distinguish the importance of providing youth benefits and determine means of compensation.
  • Develop performance measures and evaluations to ensure commitment to the mission statement and youth voice.
