The goal of the OJJDP FY24 Enhancing Youth Defense program is to implement enhancements that improve youth defense. Program objectives are to ensure that youth involved with the juvenile justice system have access to high quality, specialized legal representation and access to resources that address the collateral consequences of justice system involvement.
This program supports grants to states, Tribes, and localities to improve juvenile defense delivery focusing on specialized training, data, and performance capacity building, implementing a holistic vertical defense model, and addressing other jurisdiction specific gaps and needs.
