OJJDP FY 08 Nonparticipating State Program, Wyoming
The purpose of this program is to assist Wyoming in developing a range of secure and nonsecure alternatives for juveniles in custody and in revising pertinent policies to address compliance with the core requirements of the JJDP Act. The program is authorized under the provisions of the Act, specifically, Section 223(d) of the JJDP Act.

This project focuses on providing these important resources to local and state CASA programs. Results will be measured by growth in the number of children served and volunteers activated as well as in the increase of volunteers of color. The population to benefit from this project is children who are involved in court proceedings because of abuse or neglect'primarily children in foster care. The direct target audience for this project includes state and local CASA program staff, volunteers, board members and judges.

The purpose of the OJJDP FY 2007 Field-Initiated Research and Evaluation Program is to support new and ongoing rigorous, scientific research and evaluation studies that inform the discipline of juvenile justice, including the prevention, intervention, and treatment of juvenile delinquency and child victimization. This includes research and evaluation projects targeted at gaining knowledge regarding these issues within specific populations, such as Tribal youth.
