OJJDP's Community-Based Violence Prevention Field-Initiated Research and Evaluation Program supports methodologically rigorous research and evaluation studies that inform policy and practice consistent with the Department of Justice's mission. OJJDP will fund field-initiated studies to inform what is understood about how communities can prevent and reduce violence involving youth.

OJJDP FY 12 Mentoring Enhancement Demonstration Program

This demonstration program will support collaborations of qualified, established mentoring program to implement advocacy or teaching functions into mentors’ roles by enhancing (1) the matching of youth and mentors based on needs, skills, experiences, and interests; (2) initial and ongoing training for mentors, and (3) ongoing mentor support.

OJJDP FY 12 National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention TTA Project

This project supports existing Forum sites through several vehicles, including onsite technical assistance; offsite technical assistance (e.g., telephone, e-mail, Internet, distance learning); peer-to-peer information exchange and mentoring (individual, group, or jurisdiction-wide); publication development and dissemination; information sharing; conferences, workshops, and training events, including agenda development, speaker identification, and logistical support; and curriculum development.

OJJDP FY 12 National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention Expansion Project

At the direction of former President Obama, the Departments of Justice and Education launched the National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention (Forum) to begin a national conversation concerning youth and gang violence, raise awareness, and elevate the issue to national significance. The project that this solicitation supports seeks to competitively select as many as four new sites to join the Forum's participating localities of Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Memphis, Salinas, and San Jose.

OJJDP FY 12 Multi-State Mentoring Initiative

This solicitation invites eligible applicants to propose the enhancement or expansion of initiatives that will help communities develop or improve mentoring programs for at-risk or high-risk populations that are underserved due to location, shortage of mentors, special physical or mental challenges of the targeted population, or other analogous situations that the community identifies.

OJJDP FY 12 NonParticipating State Program: Wyoming

Wyoming has chosen not to participate in the Formula Grants program under Title II, Part B of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, as amended (JJDP Act). As such, the state is ineligible to receive the FY 2012 Title II Formula Grants program allocation authorized under Sections 221-3 of the JJDP Act (42 U.S.C. Sections 5631-3). Accordingly, OJJDP will competitively award the state's allocation through the Nonparticipating State Program: Wyoming, pursuant to 42 U.S.C. Sec. 5633(d).

OJJDP FY 12 VOCA Training and Technical Assistance for Child Abuse Professionals

This program will provide funding for the development and implementation of model technical assistance and training for child abuse professionals and to improve the judicial system’s handling of child abuse and neglect cases. The purpose of this program is to improve the coordinated multidisciplinary investigation and response to child abuse.
