OJJDP FY 09 Tribal Youth National Mentoring Program

This solicitation invites applicants to propose initiatives that will support the development, maturation, and expansion of community programs that provide mentoring services to Tribal youth populations that are underserved due to location, shortage of mentors, emotional or behavioral challenges of the targeted population, or other situations identified by the federally recognized Tribes.

The successful applicant will provide specialized training and technical assistance to the grant recipients of OJJDP's Tribal Juvenile Detention and Reentry Green Demonstration Program, a new initiative to help federally recognized Tribes provide essential programs and services to Tribal youth residing within or being released from Tribal juvenile detention centers.

OJJDP FY 09 VOCA Children's Advocacy Centers Subgrant Program

This program will provide funding to manage a national grant awards program for local children's advocacy center programs. Children's Advocacy Centers provide a coordinated response to victims of child abuse through multidisciplinary teams composed of representatives from the statutorily mandated and other involved agencies.

OJJDP FY 09 VOCA Training and Technical Assistance for Child Abuse Professionals

This program will provide funding for the development and implementation of a model technical assistance and training program for child abuse professionals and to improve the judicial system's handling of child abuse and neglect cases. The purpose of this program is to improve the coordinated multidisciplinary investigation and response to child abuse.

OJJDP seeks proposals to evaluate the effectiveness of paid versus volunteer mentors within an existing mentoring program. The evaluator will conduct both a process and an outcome evaluation measuring the success of both paid and volunteer mentor programs in preventing delinquency.

OJJDP FY 09 Enforcing the Underage Drinking Laws Discretionary Program: Initiative to Reduce Underage Drinking

This initiative will provide funds to local civilian communities to implement research-based and promising practices to enforce underage drinking laws and prevent underage service personnel from consuming alcohol in collaboration with active duty bases implementing the underage component of the Air Force's Culture of Responsible Choices program.

The purpose of this program is to assist Wyoming in developing a range of secure and nonsecure alternatives for juveniles in custody and in revising policies and implementing procedures to address compliance with the core requirements of the JJDP Act, Sections 233(a)(11), (12), (13), and (22) as codified at 42 U.S.C. 5633(a)(11)(12)(13) and (22) (core requirements).

OJJDP FY 09 Recovery Act National Internet Crimes Against Children Data System (NIDS)

The purpose of the NIDS is to provide a secure, dynamic undercover infrastructure to facilitate online law enforcement investigations of child exploitation; to promote data deconfliction and information sharing among ICAC Task Forces and ICAC-affiliated federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies; and to enhance the capacity of OJJDP to collect and aggregate data on the extent of the problem of child exploitation.
